Saltbox Farmhouse Opens in New Providence
The New Providence Historical Society Saltbox Farmhouse opened its doors for the first time of the spring season on Sunday, March 6.

The Saltbox Farmhouse Museum of the New Providence Historical Society opened for the first time of the spring season on Sunday, March 6 as visitors stopped in to experience the mid-1800s. The Saltbox Farmhouse Museum is composed of two separate buildings that have been joined together, and visitors were given the opportunity to view archive photo albums detailing the property's history.
The Historical Society is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a number of activities, including the organization's annual craft fair and sale, which takes place on the Saltbox Farmhouse lawn Saturday, May 7.

The organization's Mason Archive Room, located at the rear of the New Providence Memorial Library, is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Members of the community are invited to peruse the Historical Society's collection of documents, photos, maps, oral interviews and other items.
