Softball Rolls Past Johnson, Boys Lacrosse Falls in Overtime, Baseball Team Loses First

Here's the GL sports wrap looking back at Monday April 11.

A little over three minutes. That's all the Gov. Livingston lacrosse team would have to kill off before earning their first victory of the season.

The Highlanders had certainly mustered enough offense, thanks to four goals by John Hutton, while Nick Enright notched a hat trick of his own.

But Nutley had other ideas -- scoring with just under four minutes to go in regulation, which was good enough to send the contest into overtime.

That's where Nutley's Eric Palumbo finished the deal -- scoring with just over two minutes left in extra time, and pushing the Highlanders record to 0-4.

There's no question that GL will knock the door down soon.

Gl's next match will be Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. vs. Morris Catholic under the lights at Snyder Ave. field.

Meanwhile, on the softball diamond, the Lady Highlanders improved to 4-1 after crushing Johnson 16-2 Monday afternoon.

GL tallied 8 runs in the first and 6 in the second en route to their fourth win from five starts this season.

The baseball team lost their first of the season to Elizabeth by a count of 7-5 in Berkeley Heights. Justin Clark picked two hits including a solo homer. The Highlanders drop to 4-1 on the season and will look to make amends against Cranford this afternoon in a key road contest.
