Tea, Classical Music WIll Be Part of 'Tea & Strings' Event

The Mountainside Restoration Committee will host its annual Tea & Strings event on May 5 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the historic Deacon Andrew Hetfield House.

For the past six years, Tea & Strings has become an annual tradition for many who enjoy a civilized afternoon of fine tea and classical music. This year, the live music will be performed by “The Workshop Strings” who are affiliated with the Westfield Workshop Visitors can come and go as they wish during this two-hour event.

The 18th Century historic Hetfield House provides the perfect setting for enjoying a hot or iced cup of tea and home-baked sweets while listening to soothing classical music and partaking in stimulating conversation. It’s a perfect afternoon to catch up with old friends, bond with family or just enjoy the serenity. Over the years, this event has become popular with mothers & grandparents bringing their little girls, some with their American Girl Dolls, and they have a lovely time. Complimentary tea and sweets will be served. Admission is free and open to all, but a suggested donation of $3 per person would be appreciated.

Tours of the historic Deacon Andrew Hetfield House will be conducted during the event. Also, copies “A History of Mountainside – 1945-2007: It Was Only Yesterday” and an assortment of tea-related items will be available for sale in the “Hetfield Boutique."

The Hetfield House is located at Constitution Plaza, adjacent to the Mountainside Library. The Mountainside Restoration Committee is a committee of volunteers governed by the borough of Mountainside whose purpose is to maintain the Deacon Andrew Hetfield House and collect and save historic information and items from destruction.
