The 80s: A Decade of Dominance Under Coach Bottone
Part three of our seven-day video series features interviews with Bottone's players and coaches from the famed 1989 championship team.
More than 200 people attended a retirement dinner for Head Football Coach on Friday, April 15 at Mayfair Farms in West Orange.
At the dinner, many individuals made remarks about Frank and his career at New Providence for 48 years, as well as his early years of coaching in Madison.
New Providence Patch met with Bottone's past and present players, coaches, family members and friends to learn more about the man behind the name, known by many both near and far.
Throughout the night, we spoke with players and coaches from the late 1980s. The New Providence team won three straight Group I state titles from 1987-1989, with the 1989 team shutting out their opponents in nine of the eleven games that season to finish as the schools 2nd undefeated team. Check out the video for interviews about the famed 1989 team.
Every evening this week, be sure to check New Providence Patch for the next video in our series, honoring Coach Bottone and taking you through his tremendous career.
