UCT Title Games Highlight Big Weekend for Gov. Livingston Sports Teams

Girls softball semifinals tonight;JV and Varsity boys baseball on Sunday.

It has been quite a successful spring season for Gov. Livingston high school sports, and with the county tournament in full swing, Highlander fans will have plenty to cheer for this weekend.

Tonight, the girls' varsity softball team will take center stage in the UCT when they travel to Linden at face the Tigers at Memorial Field at 8 pm. A victory would place GL into the championship game which is set to be played in Linden 3 pm Saturday.

Meanwhile, the boys' varsity baseball team continues their impressive run on Sunday when they take on defending UCT champion Cranford at 4 pm with the championship on the line at Kean University in Union. The game features the top two teams in the county.

GL reached the final after posting a wild 17-14 victory over Westfield in last week's semifinal matchup, while Cranford disposed of Scotch Plains.

And not to be outdone, the GL Junior Varsity team will play for the championship at noon on Sunday when they tackle Scotch Plains, also at Kean University.

Looking ahead to next week, the girls' lacrosse team heads into state tournament action when they travel to face Jefferson on tuesday at 4 pm.
