Woman Killed In Berkeley Heights I-78 Crash Sunday Identified

The woman was a passenger in a car that went off the interstate and hit a tree early Sunday morning, NJ State Police report.

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ — An early morning tragic crash on I-78 in Berkeley Heights Sunday claimed the life of a Pennsylvania woman.

New Jersey State Police have identified the fatal victim as Emily Cooney, 24, of Lost Creek, Pennsylvania, Trooper Charles Marchan said.

Cooney was a passenger in a Chevy Cavalier that was being driven on Interstate 78 East by Alexis Nevadomsky, 23, of Oneida, Pennsylvania on Sunday, March 10 at 4:55 a.m., Marchan said.

At milepost 43.5 in Berkeley Heights, the car went off left side of roadway and hit a tree, Marchan said.

Nevadomsky suffered serious injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
