• Newton Superintendent Named 2026 Sussex County Superintendent of the Year (tapinto.net) — Newton Public Schools superintendent Dr. Joseph Piccirillo has been named 2026 Sussex County Superintendent of the Year, recognizing major gains in student achievement, facilities upgrades, and safety planning across Newton’s schools. His work includes securing mental health and vape-detection resources, preserving after-school programming for local families, and preparing a NASA Downlink event that will let Newton students speak directly with astronauts. 
• Sussex County Library System offers summer reading, events and USA 250 programs (townshipjournal.com subscription) — Sussex County Library System is rolling out free summer reading challenges, USA 250 history programs, and family-friendly events that Newton residents can join at branches across the county. From the “Unearth a Story” reading program and food-drive challenge to a Braen Stone kids’ reading reward and a Skylands Stadium kickoff, all activities are free for Sussex County cardholders.
