• Newton High School Celebrates New Field Before 2026 Football Home Opener (tapinto.net) — Newton residents just got a major upgrade at Newton High School, where a fully renovated Palmer Field with new turf, lights, scoreboard, and track debuted before the 2026 football home opener. School leaders say the project boosts pride and benefits students from Newton, Andover, and Green, offering a modern gathering place for sports, band, and community events. 
• Meet Nova (spartaindependent.com subscription) — A Newton-based rescue group, Byram Animal Rescue Kindness Squad (BARKS), is looking for a local family to adopt Nova, a one-year-old deaf Catahoula Leopard Dog. Nova is already trained with hand signals, great with kids and other animals, and would thrive in a patient home with a fenced yard and consistent routine.
• One dead in Sussex County crash (njherald.com) — A serious head-on crash on Route 206 in Andover Township left one person dead and two others injured, with one victim transported to Newton ER. Andover Township police say a northbound vehicle crossed into the southbound lane, and the investigation continues while authorities withhold identities pending family notification.
