New Jersey Roller Derby Juniors vs. Hudson Valley Frightmares open GSR’s annual open league mixer, where skaters from across the tri-state face off as their favorite cryptids
Newark, NJ – Garden State Roller Derby (GSR), New Jersey’s premiere flat track roller derby league, announced ticket sales are now officially open to the public for GSR’s highly-anticipated 2026 Clash of the Cryptids roller derby double header, set for Saturday, August 8 at the Inline Skating Club of America in North Arlington, NJ. Drawing some of the best roller derby skaters from across the tri-state area, GSR’s annual theme mixer will this year pit Team Loch Ness Monster against Team Mothman in Game 2 as the night’s headline event.
The action-packed double header will kick off Game 1 with the New Jersey Roller Derby Juniors hitting the track at 6 p.m. to take on the Hudson Valley Frightmares, two Junior Roller Derby League teams nurturing some of the area’s top up-and-coming young roller derby talent, featuring skaters ages 8-17.

Skaters and fans alike can commemorate this fun, family-friendly evening of hard-hitting, fast-paced competition – all while showing their support for GSR, their chosen cryptid character, favorite team and the sport of roller derby by purchasing limited edition 2026 GSR Clash of the Cryptids exclusive merch! T-shirts and customizable team jerseys, all featuring original artwork by GSR skater Candy Warhol, are available for pre-order through July 23, 2026. Limited stock will be available for purchase the day of the game.
All proceeds from ticket sales, as well as pre-orders and game-day purchases of Clash of the Cryptids as well as official GSR merch directly fund the continued independent operation of GSR, Northern New Jersey’s first and only 100% volunteer-run flat track roller derby league.

About Garden State Roller Derby (GSR)
Recently celebrating 20 years since its founding in 2006, Garden State Roller Derby is New Jersey’s oldest operating flat-track roller derby league. GSR is a proud member of the North American Northeast Division of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The league has two traveling teams, the all-star Ironbound Maidens and the B-team, the Brick City Bruisers. In addition, there are two home teams, the Northern Nightmares and the Gateway Grim Reapers, who bout against each other throughout the season.
