June Open House — Founding Fathers' Day
Sunday, June 21 (Father's Day), 1:00–4:00 PM
Historic Van Allen Tavern
Franklin Avenue and Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland

Join the Oakland Historical Society for a special Father's Day Open House at the historic Van Allen TAVERN!

To celebrate the day, we're turning the Van Allen House into a lively colonial-era tavern—one of the most important gathering places in early America. Bring the whole family and enjoy an afternoon of history, games, refreshments, and good company.

We'll be serving root beer, birch beer, cider, and other treats while visitors explore the historic house and learn about the role taverns played in colonial life. Taverns were more than just places to eat and drink—they were centers of community life where neighbors gathered, news was exchanged, and ideas were debated.

Enjoy a variety of games and activities for all ages, both inside the house and, weather permitting, on the lawn. Whether you're young or young at heart, there will be plenty of opportunities to join in the fun.

Bring your favorite game—especially one you can teach to others!

So gather your family, invite your friends, and spend Father's Day afternoon making memories at one of Oakland's most treasured historic landmarks.

Free admission • Family-friendly • All are welcome

Bring your family.
Bring your friends.
Bring your sense of fun.
