"Fleeing from Home: a Refugee Story"
Syrian refugee tent experience. Sunday, April 17, from 9 to 11:30am @First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains. Adult and child appropriate.

The Syrian refugee crisis is the largest refugee crisis since World War II. Over 13.5 million people in Syria need humanitarian assistance due to a violent civil war. 4.6 million Syrians are refugees, and 6.6 million are displaced within Syria; half are children.
“Fleeing from Home: a Refugee Story” is a hands-on immersive experience that uses powerful images, lighting, scents and sounds to depict what it is like to be displaced from home, living in a makeshift tent. Visitors hear personal stories of war-torn Syrian families living in the harshest conditions in the world today. It is a self-guided tour activated on a personal smart phone while inside a refugee tent. There are two story options, one from the perspective of an adult, the other a child’s. It includes a story tent, story aisle, a child friendly space, and response area.
The experience is being staged by the First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains, running from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Friendship Hall at 525 Newark-Pompton Turnpike on Sunday, April 17.
