North Jersey Man Dies in California Highway Accident

Nikolas Samouhos, 40, of Ridgefield Park, had to be extricated from his pickup truck in the collision Sunday.

A Bergen County motorist who was trapped in his pickup truck after it was involved in a three-vehicle collision in California and overturned died at a hospital about an hour later, the Riverside County coroner’s office said Monday.

Forty-year-old Nikolas Samouhos of Ridgefield Park was pronounced dead at 4:12 p.m. Sunday at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, the coroner’s office said.

Samouhos was in a collision at 3:04 p.m. on westbound Highway 62 north near Desert Hot Springs, said Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

He was trapped in the wreckage of his Toyota Tacoma, extricated by firefighters, and transported to the hospital, Hagemann said.
