Oakland-Franklin Lakes Rotary Club Awards 50/50 Raffle Winner

Oakland resident Bruce Tyra won the grand prize

The Oakland-Franklin Lakes Rotary Club chose Bruce Tyra as the winner of its 50/50 contest at a regular club meeting held at Portobello’s on Tuesday, June 26. The 30 members of the club spent the previous four months selling the raffle tickets for $100 a piece. Only 300 tickets were available to be sold, and they were sold to supporters as far away as Florida and Massachusetts.

“Rotary is a good cause and it was worth supporting it with buying a ticket. Of course, I am very happy to have won as well,” said Tyra, who bought his winning ticket from Oakland-Franklin Lakes Rotary President Peter Kikot.

Tyra's winning portion of the 50/50 was $12,950.

The OFL Rotary provides scholarships to local students, supports the DARE programs of Oakland and Franklin Lakes and supports a variety of other local, national and international programs.

“The $12,950 raised through the hard work of its members will go a long way in helping those who need our help the most," Kikot said. "I am proud of all of our clubs accomplishments but this, our largest fundraiser of the year, will go a long way in fulfilling the many requests we receive each month for support.”
