Oakland Woman Run Over, Killed By SUV Identified

OAKLAND, NJ — Police have identified the woman killed after she was pinned under an SUV on Thackerary Road Thursday.

Nora Kohlash, 38, was walking with an acquaintance on the sidewalk in front of 18 Thackeray Road when they were hit by a vehicle backing out of a driveway, said Lt. Christian Eldridge.

The 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee knocked Kohlash and the other person to the ground. Then the driver pulled the SUV forward back into the driveway. It then rolled backwards and hit Kohlash again, pinning her beneath it, Eldridge said.

Valley Hospital paramedics, police officers and firefighters tried to save Kohlash's life, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
