1 More Chance To Catch Fireworks In Ocean City This Summer

The fireworks display is one of a number of upcoming events in Ocean City over the next week.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City’s residents and visitors have one more chance to see a dazzling fireworks display this summer. The Ocean City Tourism Commission and Boardwalk Merchants Association will sponsor a free fireworks show on Saturday, Aug. 26, 10 p.m. The best place to see the fireworks will be along the boardwalk, between 6th and 14th streets.

Other events coming up in Ocean City over the next week, according to Ocean City Public Information Officer Doug Bergen, include:

Guts and Glory 5K Run/Walk (Aug. 20): A 5-kilometer run/walk down Haven Avenue to benefit the Crohns and Colitis Foundation of America. Early registration is $25 and includes a T-shirt. Registration on the day of the event is $30 and opens at 7 a.m. at the Ocean City Aquatics and Fitness Center. Cirque de la Symphonie with the Ocean City Pops (Aug. 20): The popular show returns to the Ocean City Music Pier in a new production. Artists include aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionist, dancers, jugglers, and strongmen. These amazing artists perform with the Pops, directed by Maestro Bill Scheible. Show begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $35/$25 and will be available at the Ocean City Music Pier Box Office, by visiting oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice or by calling 609-399-6111.

Philadelphia 76ers Summer Tour (Aug. 22): The Philadelphia 76ers Summer Tour stops by the Ocean City Music Pier noon to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 22. The free event will include a T-shirt station, player autographs, face-painting, merchandise sales and more. At this time, it is not known which 76ers players or alumni will be in attendance. Wacky Wednesday (Aug. 23): Use your creativity to shape and sculpt salt water taffy into your very own unique masterpiece in this free contest open to all ages. It begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk. For more information, call 609-399-6111.

Bike OCNJ Meeting (Aug. 23): Learn and share ideas about making Ocean City a more bicycle-friendly community. All are invited to participate in community forum from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 23, at the Howard S. Stainton Senior Center in the Ocean City Community Center, 18th Street and Simpson Avenue.

Italia Dal Mare (Italy by the Ocean) With the Ocean City Pops (Aug. 23): Come celebrate the 25th anniversary season of Bel Canto Lyric Opera of Philadelphia. Under the direction of their co-artistic director Anthony Pirollo, principal cellist of the Ocean City Pops, the group returns for the first time in nearly 20 years. The evening will be dedicated to Italian favorites in both opera and song in the traditional bel canto style. Guest artists include members of the Valley Forge Chorale, as well as a few surprises! Show begins at 8 p.m. at the Ocean City Music Pier, Moorlyn Terrace and Boardwalk. Tickets are $20/$15 and will be available at the Ocean City Music Pier Box Office, by visiting oceancityvacation.com/boxoffice or by calling 609-399-6111.

Green Fair (Aug. 25): Ocean City will host a Green Fair under the covered loggia of the Ocean City Music Pier (Boardwalk at Moorlyn Terrace) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The community-wide event is designed to educate and encourage people of all ages to adopt a more sustainable lifestyle. At green fairs, participants learn how small individual efforts can make a huge difference in their communities. A variety of exhibitors will be on hand. The Green Fair is sponsored by the City of Ocean City and the Ocean City Environmental Commission. The event is free to attend. For information, call 609-399-6111.
