2 Babies Found Dead In South Jersey Identified As Twin Girls, Authorities Say

Twin babies were found dead at a N.J. home on Wednesday morning, and the 911 call was released. "Oh my God, my babies," the mother said.

Twin baby girls were found dead at a New Jersey home on Wednesday morning, according to authorities.

CBS 3 sources said the two infants were found dead in an apartment in Lindenwold in South Jersey. The Camden County Prosecutor's Office said they responded to the scene after getting a 911 call.

On Wednesday afternoon, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Lindenwold Police identified the girls as two seven-month old twin girls. They were found unresponsive at the 5100 building of the Pines Apartment Complex on Bilper Avenue around 8 a.m.

They were pronounced dead by Dr. Adrienne Rigueur of Virtua Hospital via telemetry at about 8:30 a.m.

The Courier-Post reported that the children's grandmother was kept from entering the apartment and then the mother exited the home appearing upset. The infants' father was said to be "torn up." The mother also has a third child, who is four or five years old.

Tasia Mayweather said she and her husband, a friend of the infants' father, received a call Wednesday morning from the father asking for a ride to the apartment where the infants lived with their mother, according to The Courier Post. The infants had already died by the time he arrived, she said.

"He was so excited to be a father, and now for this to happen ..." she told the newspaper. "We'll keep close to him now. I can't imagine ..."

The cause of death is not known, although The Courier-Post said a police scanner report indicated the infants were in respiratory arrest when authorities were called.

According to a 911 call reported on YouTube by 101.5, the mother called to report her 7-month-old twins were not breathing and that the infants were purple. The dispatcher repeatedly tried to calm her down.

"Oh my God, my babies..," the mother sobbed in the call.
