The Bloomberg Billionaire Index tracks the world’s 500 richest people on an almost continuous basis, with the figures getting updated after the close of every trading day at the New York Stock Exchange.
Jeff Bezos, the founder and CEO of Amazon, maintains his spot as the richest person in the world. Overall, 176 of the 500 richest individuals are American, and United States citizens also make up seven of the top 10 richest people globally.
In New Jersey, two people are among the 500 richest in the world.

Commisso's wealth could buy:
- 5.44 million ounces of gold
- 126 million barrels of crude oil
Commisso's fortune is derived from Mediacom Communications, the fifth-largest cable television provider in the U.S., according to an October 2019 press release. A 2015 company filing states that the billionaire is its sole shareholder.

Johnson's wealth could buy:

Johnson's fortune originated with inherited shares of Johnson & Johnson, the New Jersey consumer products company that was co-founded by his great-grandfather.
He owns shares in J&J as well as the New York Jets football team, which he purchased from the estate of Leon Hess in 2000 for $635 million. The Jets are valued at $2.7 billion based on a valuation assessment from sports consultant Peter J. Schwartz and an analysis of team sales.
