'Ales For Whales' Returns To Benefit Marine Mammal Stranding Center

After a three-year hiatus, the fundraiser will return, raising money to support critical marine mammal stranding response efforts.

BRIGANTINE, NJ — After a three-year hiatus, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center is announcing the return of its “Ales for Whales” fundraiser, with all proceeds going directly towards critical marine mammal stranding response efforts in New Jersey.

The fundraiser is set for March 12 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., hosted by the Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall in Atlantic City, according to a news release.

Early bird tickets are $35 through Feb. 29, and $45 starting on March 1.

According to the center:

What started in 1976 as an idea inspired by a lone pygmy sperm whale that stranded on the beach in Atlantic City, has become the only organization dedicated to the Rescue, Rehabilitation and Release of marine mammals in the State of New Jersey. Since first opening its doors 46 years ago this March, the Marine Mammal Stranding Center has responded to over 6,067 marine mammals and sea turtles in distress. From humble beginnings in Gardner’s Basin, in AC, to the current facility in Brigantine, two things have always remained constant: a steadfast commitment to the animals above all else, and an appreciation for the support from the community. It is fitting that “Ales for Whales,” a chance for the community to come together to learn about and help support this important mission, is being held on the organization’s anniversary just steps away from where MMSC was born.

The bulk of MMSC’s lifesaving work is funded through donations from the public, grants, gift shop sales and fundraising events, which is why MMSC says that the return of “Ales for Whales” is critical this year, now more than ever.

Proceeds from “Ales for Whales” ticket sales, silent auction, raffle tickets, and merchandise sales will help provide the Center with the supplies and equipment that ensure a quick response to animals in need. These funds will help the organization to rescue and rehabilitate as many animals as possible and allow them to collect critical scientific data on those animals who were not able to be saved to help further the investigation into cetacean deaths along our shores.

“We are the hands that do this important work for the animals, but our supporters are the heart,” MMSC said.
