Anti-Semitic Flyers Distributed On Lawns In NJ Towns: Police

Local authorities are investigating at least two separate instances of bags of anti-Semitic flyers disseminated around two towns.

NEW JERSEY - Local authorities are investigating at least two separate instances of bags of anti-Semitic flyers disseminated around two towns.

In a Sunday social media post, the Brigantine Police Department announced its investigation into “a number” of bags containing anti-Semitic literature being thrown on island properties overnight.

“The literature does not contain any threats, but it is consistent with anti-Semitic flyers that news outlets have reported as having been distributed in similar manners throughout the United States in recent weeks,” police said.

The flyers appear to be distributed randomly and are not targeting any specific residences or businesses, police added. Any residents or businesses with surveillance video of the distribution are asked to contact the Brigantine Police Department at 609-266-7414. Anyone with information about these incidents are asked to contact police as well.

“We will not be sharing images of the flyers and we encourage residents and the media to refrain from doing so as well,” Brigantine Police Department said in a statement. “Sharing the images publicly will only contribute to the perpetrator(s) desired objective of spreading their hateful messages.”

Lindenwold police in Camden County are also investigating similar literature left on sidewalks and lawns between Sunday and Monday. The flyers were distributed around W. Linden, Columbia and State Avenues, police said.

“The propaganda was inside of a sandwich bag containing dried corn that was used to weigh down the bag,” Lindenwold police said. “If anyone found this and has not reported it to the police, please do so.”

Those with video of anyone walking or driving and leaving anti-Semitic propaganda are asked please contact Det. Joe Tomasetti (Lindenwold PD) 856-784-7566 ext. 421 or jtomasetti@lindenwoldpd.com.
