A new interactive tool developed by the federal Environmental Protection Agency lets citizens find the top emitters of greenhouse gases at the national, state and local level.

Motor vehicle emissions account for about 40 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions in New Jersey, according to the EPA.
"Eight of the biggest businesses or entities with the largest carbon footprint in New Jersey are power plants, led by the Bergen generating station owned by PSEG Power, which emitted more than 2.5 million tons of carbon and other greenhouse-gas related pollution," NJ Spotlight writes.

The coal-powered B.L. England Generating Station is 12th among New Jersey's top emitters at 603,727 tons, according to the interactive tool. The station is in the Beesleys Point section of Upper Township, a short distance across the bay from Ocean City.
