The many things to do in and around Atlantic City, NJ include a variety of golf courses. While other cities have nearly identical golf courses each one in Atlantic City is slightly different than the next. Yet some of the city's golf courses are better than others.

One of the better choices in town is the Atlantic City Country Club. Dating back to 1897, it has been on the map since 1901 when it hosted the U.S. Amateur golfing event. The club has hosted the championships for the United States Golf Association. In 1980 it even hosted the Senior PGA Tour. The golf course underwent restoration in 1999 and has since become New Jersey's top golf course open to the public.

For a view of the skyline of Atlantic City and a superior golfing experience, many people visit the Stockton Seaview Hotel & Golf Club to play at the Bay Course. This is one of the smaller courses, at 6,247 yards. It was the site of the PGA Championship in 1942. While the public can play on the course used for that championship event they can also play at the Pines Course.

In Egg Harbor Township there are two notable golf courses. One is at the Ballamor Golf Club, which has 7,098 yards of playing greens. Though the club is only open to members, it has a sister course in Scotland Run. The other notable golf course in Egg Harbor Township is the Twisted Dune Golf Club. Designed by Archie Struthers, the golf course stretches 7,248 yards. Having moved pieces of Earth to create this golf course, Struthers designed it with wide fairways and a total of 90 bunkers. This makes the course easy and challenging to play at the same time, making it appealing to golfers of all experience levels. This golf course is the closest one to Atlantic City, at 15 miles off the coast.

In the next town over from Atlantic City is Ocean City's Shore Gate Golf Club. The course has been hosting players since 2002 and is 7,227 yards long. 245 acres of forest land provides players with a unique golfing experience. Its seven ponds and 88 bunkers make it more challenging than many other golf courses.
