Blood-Covered Nude NJ Man Found On Mom's Headless Body: Docs

OCEAN CITY, NJ — When police arrived to an apartment after receiving a call from a man claiming he had just killed his mom, they found Jeffrey Surgent naked and covered in blood on top of the headless body of his mother, according to documents obtained by Patch.

He called police at about 4 p.m. on Dec. 8 to tell them he was bipolar and that he had killed his mother, according to the arrest affidavit. The line remained open and Surgent said nothing further, per documents.

Housing authority surveillance footage shows a head roll out of the apartment "at a high rate of speed," the affidavit said. The head hit a wall and rolled to where it was later found by police.

Shortly after, Surgent could be seen peeking out of the apartment, then pulling his mother's body into the hallway, according to the affidavit. He was naked and laid on top of the body, which is how police discovered him, the documents said.

As police handcuffed Surgent and took him out of the building, he screamed "over and over" that he had killed his mother and that he was sorry, according to the affidavit. He then began to sing "Jesus Loves Me."

Surgent was taken to a medical facility under police watch, authorities previously said. Jail records show that he was taken to the Cape May County Correctional Facility the next day.
