Body Of Missing Postal Worker Pulled From Jersey Shore Waters

The body of Corey McFadden, a postal worker missing since May 1, was found floating off Sandy Hook, officials said.

SANDY HOOK, NJ — A body found floating a mile off the coast of Sandy Hook has been identified as missing Cape May mail carrier Corey McFadden, according to state police.

First reported by NJ Advance Media, the body of the 33-year-old was recovered on May 22, New Jersey State Police said.

At around 6 p.m. that day, state troopers were alerted to a report of an adult white man found roughly one mile offshore north of Sandy Hook, the state police spokesperson previously told Patch. The FDNY's Marine Unit and the U.S. Coast Guard recovered the body.

McFadden, a Lower Township resident, was announced missing on May 1. His unoccupied car was found on the shoulder of the Garden State Parkway in Wall on April 30, police previously said.

The night his car was found, McFadden interacted with Manasquan police as part of a welfare check after he was seen standing outside in a rainstorm.

McFadden, who identified himself as "Corey Samuels," refused police assistance, police said.

McFadden's father, Pat McFadden, told NJ Advance Media that he left his cell phone and wallet at home before he went missing; his coworkers first reported him missing on Monday morning - the day after the Manasquan police officer encounter - after he didn't show up for work, the outlet reported.

Another body recovered from Sandy Hook in May, an adult white woman, has not been publicly identified.
