Cape May County Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Stabbing Man In Hotel Room: Prosecutor
The victim was in critical condition as of Wednesday.
A 51-year-old Cape May County man has been charged with attempted murder after he stabbed a man in the neck in a hotel room in Middle Township on Tuesday, Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor and Middle Township Police Chief Christopher Leusner said.
Herbert Tozer, of Rio Grande, is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, third-degree endangering an injured victim, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and third-degree hindering apprehension.
Police discovered Robert Niemezua, 45 years old, of Rio Grande, suffering from a stab wound and a laceration to his neck when responding to a report of an injured man at the Country Motel on Route 47 in Rio Grande at about 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 10.

Niemezura was airlifted to the Atlantic City Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
A subsequent joint investigation was conducted by Detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office and the Middle Township Police Department.

A court-authorized search warrant was executed in a room at the Country Motel. Police recovered some evidence during that search.
Police also released the two images attached to this post as part of the investigation.
The images were released Tuesday afternoon, and the man was found shortly thereafter.
On Wednesday, police said Tozer was identified as the suspect in the assault, and he was arrested without incident at a home in the Burleigh section of Middle Township.
He was charged and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending Court proceedings.
