Coastal Flood Advisory For Ocean City; Share Photos With Patch
The advisory is in effect from 6 p.m. to midnight.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — A Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect for Ocean City Monday night, Sept. 24, 6 p.m. to midnight, according to the National Weather Service. Steady east winds will push water and rough surf toward the coastline during a higher-than-normal full moon tide this evening. Forecasters also predict light rain.
Water levels are expected to peak in the hours around high tide on the bay side of Ocean City at 8:45 p.m., officials said in a special weather statement Monday morning.
Forecasters project a tide of 5.5 feet on the mean low water scale (MLW). By comparison, new moon tides earlier this month peaked at 6.9 feet MLW. Visit www.ocnj.us/octides to compare these predictions to other recent and historic tide levels.

Minor flooding may also come with two tides on Tuesday, at 9:04 a.m. (5.5 feet predicted) and 9:21 p.m. (5.3 feet).
“Residents should monitor conditions and be prepared to move vehicles from areas that typically experience tidal flooding,” city officials said. “The roads closer to the beach including Central and Wesley avenues are typically at higher elevation. For your safety and the protection of your vehicle and neighboring properties, never attempt to drive through flood waters, and do not drive around barricades.”
