Pratt was convicted of beating his neighbor, Michael Anderson, with a lead pipe and shooting him to death in 1984. Pratt was tried as an adult in the case even though he was a teenager, according to nj.com.

Pratt said shortly after killing his mother that he didn’t want a trial, and tried to admit his guilt. “I have failed,” he said in the Press report.

Under the plea agreement, Pratt would be sentenced to 25 years in prison. He would have to serve at least 85 percent — or 21¼ years — before being eligible for parole, according to the reports.
