Demolition Set For Beesley's Point Smokestack

Some Ocean City residents will experience brief power outages in preparation for the demolition.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The smokestack at the former BL England power plant is finally coming down this week.

The smokestack in Beesley's Point is scheduled for demolition on Oct. 26 at 10 a.m., permanently changing the landscape of Upper Township.

In preparation for the demolition, some Atlantic City Electric customers will see a planned outage for up to 10 minutes between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Oct. 25, weather permitting. See the map here.

Another service interruption is planned for the same areas between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The cooling tower at the plant came down last year.

Designated viewing areas for the demolition have not been defined, but pedestrians will likely be allowed on the parkway biking/walking path.
