Implosion Set For Former BL England Cooling Tower
On Thursday morning, the defunct power plant's cooling tower is coming down.

BEESLY'S POINT, NJ — The cooling tower at the former BL England Power Plant is coming down.
An implosion is scheduled for the structure on Sept. 29 at 9:30 a.m., according to a release from Beesley's Point Development Group (BPDG).
"Great care and preparation has been taken leading to the event to assure local and state compliance as well as the safety of the community," BPDG said, adding that they hired an "internationally recognized" company to perform the implosion.

BPDG said that are no asbestos present in the tower, and "months of preparation" took place to remove interior materials in the tower to make sure that debris does not leave the area. Water and dust suppression equipment will also be running to "limit dust migration."
There are no official places to watch, but BPDG said that there are "many great places to view the event safely."

Children in school should not be able to hear any noise, and homes should not feel any vibration, BPDG said.
