Driver Who Hit Family In Golf Cart In Wildwood Rally Avoids Jail

Eryk Wnek, who hit a golf cart carrying 6 people in the 2022 unsanctioned car rally, will enter a probationary program, per a report.

WILDWOOD, NJ — One of the drivers accused of causing a serious crash during a Sept. 2022 unsanctioned car rally in Wildwood will avoid jail time, according to a report.

During the pop-up H2oi car event, Eryk Wnek, 24, of Linden, did a burnout on his BMW and struck another vehicle before hitting a golf cart that was carrying a family of six, authorities previously said. Read more: Driver Charged After Striking Family In Golf Cart At Wildwood Rally

But Wnek will not serve a prison sentence as he has entered into a pre-trial intervention probationary program, according to a NJ Advance Media report citing state court officials.

Wnek's charges of aggravated assault and assault by auto will be dropped once he completes said program.

His attorney had argued that Wnek's involvement in the golf cart crash was only speculation, according to NJ Advance Media.

Hundreds of cars came to Wildwood after being kicked out of Ocean City, Maryland for the Sept. 24, 2022 unsanctioned H2oi rally. It ended with numerous injuries and two people dead.
