Emergency Repairs Set For Ocean City Pipes
The 32nd Street sewer pumping station will undergo repairs starting Monday after officials discovered a leak.
OCEAN CITY, NJ — The pump station at 32nd Street and West Avenue is set for emergency repairs after Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority operations personnel discovered a leak in a pipe, Ocean City officials said.
The leak, on the discharge side of a pump, was discovered on Aug. 10, officials said. While personnel were able to temporarily control the leak, the condition of the pipe section requires an immediate and complete replacement, officials said.
Work will begin on Aug. 15, during which time pedestrian walkways will be limited on the east side of West Avenue in front of the pump station, due to temporary pumps and hoses that will be located near existing CMCMUA infrastructure. There will also be traffic diversions and parking blocked in areas on the northbound side of West Avenue between 31st and 31nd streets.

These temporary measures will be in place for an unknown amount of time while a replacement pipe is made, officials said.
This particular pump station receives wastewater generated from residences and businesses located in the northern portion of Ocean City, then travels to the CMCMUA’s Wastewater Treatment Facility located at 45th Street.
