AVALON, NJ — Owning a home at the shore can be a hefty investment. What about owning an entire block?

Yes, an entire block is up for sale in a Cape May County municipality: Avalon, the most expensive zip code in South Jersey and one of the top 100 most expensive zip codes in the United States, according to the block's online listing shared by NJ.com.

The 3.12 acre block stretches from Dune Drive to Ocean Drive and 20th to 21st Streets, containing all of the real estate, two operating restaurants (The Princeton and The Whitebrier) and their two liquor licenses. It's three blocks from the beach.

Avalon is one of the most exclusive towns at the shore, with the median home listing price at $2.9 million. So how much will an entire block set you back?

The listing doesn't give an asking price. But we'll stick with the classic adage of "if you have to ask, you can't afford it."
