Events In Ocean City Cancelled Due To Approaching Nor'easter

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City officials have announced the following list of events that have been cancelled due to a storm the National Weather Service is describing as as a "major nor'easter," which is expected to hit hit New Jersey over a 36-hour period, beginning Thursday night:
- The Ocean City Education Foundation “Benefit by the Beach” (originally scheduled for Friday, March 2) will now be held on April 13;
- The Ocean City Fire Department Swearing-In Ceremony (originally scheduled for Friday, March 2) will be postponed to a date still to be determined;
- The “Fridays With Friends” event for local youth (originally scheduled for Friday, March 2 at the Civic Center) will be cancelled. The final “Friday With Friends” for the school year will be held March 16 at the Ocean City Community Center; and
- The Ocean City Intermediate School Fishing Flea Market (originally scheduled for Saturday, March 3) will be cancelled.
The Jersey Shore could get tropical-storm-force winds of up to 50 mph. The storm's rain may result in localized poor drainage and small stream flooding, as well as coastal flooding and beach erosion. The entire state is under a Hazardous Weather Outlook.
