Eagles' Fans Boo Christie During Atlantic City Appearance

Christie, who has been repeatedly criticized for his Dallas Cowboys allegiance, was in town for the opening of a Bass Pro Shops store.

Gov. Chris Christie visited Atlantic City for the grand opening of a shop that, in part, marks Atlantic City’s expansion into the world of non-gambling entertainment.

And if he didn’t know where the allegiances of South Jersey football fans were before his trip on Wednesday, he knows now.

Christie was in attendance for the grand opening a Bass Pro Shops megastore, something officials hope will help Atlantic City.

Christie attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony alongside a host of celebrities, including former Philadelphia Eagles running back Brian Westbrook, according to nj.com.

Eagles’ fans in attendance booed Christie, a proud Dallas Cowboys fan, according to the report.

Christie has been criticized repeatedly for his allegiance to the hated NFL franchise.

He appeared in Cowboys owner Jerry Jones’s box when the teams played in Philadelphia in December, and hugged Jones following the Cowboys’ playoff win over the Detroit Lions.

Radio show host Angelo Cataldi and Al Morganti had fun at Christie’s expense when they released a video of Christie falling out of a chair during an appearance on his radio show last year, a video they released after expressing disgust over Christie hugging Jones during that game.

At Wednesday’s event, Westbrook led the fans in the beloved football team’s famous chant, “E-A-G-L-E-S,” directed at Christie, who smiled, according to the report.

The Bass Pro Shop in Atlantic City is one of a number of investments in non-gambling entertainment as the resort struggles through a financial crisis with the closure of four casinos and the loss of about 8,000 jobs.

Other recent non-gambling ventures include Stockton University’s attempt to put an island campus at the former Showboat Casino, and possible plans for the world’s biggest water park at the former Revel.

Christie also installed an emergency management team in Atlantic City as part of the recovery earlier this year.
