Sherrill Makes Pies At Beloved Pizzeria After Burglary
Gov. Mikie Sherrill paid a visit to Carluccio's in Northfield after the pizzeria was the victim of a smash and grab theft.
NORTHFIELD, NJ — Gov. Mikie Sherrill paid a visit to a beloved Jersey Shore pizzeria days after it was victim to a smash and grab theft.
On March 17, Carluccio's Coal Fired Pizza in Northfield posted on social media about the burglary. At about 2 a.m. the week prior, someone smashed through the front door of the business and stole money, the pizzeria said.
The suspect was caught within three hours, the pizzeria said.

A few days later, Sherrill visited the pizzeria and filmed a short video with owner Carlo Citera, where she learned to make a brick-oven pizza.
In the video, Citera called the restaurant his baby, having been in business for 33 years. He also has three children who work at Carluccio's in the summer.

He said that during a Friday in the summer, the pizzeria makes more than 1,000 pies.
"I will not leave until I retire. We'll see," Citera said.
The thief was identified as Vito Anderson, according to a report from BreakingAC.
Anderson, a 40-year-old Pleasantville resident, has been linked to burglaries in Atlantic, Cape May and Ocean counties, according to Brigantine police.
He was also accused of burglarizing The Paisley Pelican in Brigantine in a similar smash and grab theft.
Anderson was caught on March 12 in an Atlantic City casino, police said.
