The strong Tropical Storm Hermine surf sent a New Jersey surfer toppling two miles away — and it was all caught on camera, according to reports.

The surfer took to the ocean in Stone Harbor Sunday, where voluntary evacuations were in place, and 6 ABC showed how the surfer was sent from one jetty to another at least 2 miles away.

He was out there as Tropical Storm Hermine moved to its closest point to the Jersey Shore on Sunday and Monday, rocking the waves just before it was set to move east [see graphic below].

One of the Beach Patrol members told Action News these are not the types of conditions you want to surf in, saying the waves are more like a "washing machine."

NJ.com noted that swimmers were advised to stay out of the ocean, but Sunday's sunny skies and pleasant breezes drew many — including this surfer, who was not identified but was said to be in good shape — back to the beach.
