Keith Hartzell Named Ocean City Council President

Keith Hartzell was unanimously approved after being nominated by Anthony Wilson on Wednesday.

Ocean City Council has a new president.

Keith Hartzell was unanimously approved to the position during the council’s annual reorganization meeting Wednesday afternoon after being nominated by Anthony Wilson, the Ocean City Gazette reports. Wilson was president for the past two years.

Michael Allegretto was unanimously re-elected to his position as Council Vice President, according to the report. He enters his third year in that role.

Both Hartzell and Allegretto are in their third term on council, with each most recently winning re-election in 2014.

Council also approved a pair of salary ordinances on introduction.

The first ordinance deals with salary increases for the directors of financial management, police services and fire and rescue services. It includes a 1.5 percent increase to the base salary pay effective Jan. 1, 2015, and a 1.25 percent increase each of the next three years, according to the agenda packet.

The second ordinance proposes a 1.5 percent increase for the City Clerk as of Jan. 1, 2015; and a 1.25 percent increase each of the next three years.
