Here are the latest local updates on how the coronavirus outbreak is impacting Ocean City.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — There's a lot of news to keep up with right now — locally, nationally and worldwide. Here's a recap of coronavirus updates in Ocean City and Cape May County.

Cases

Cape May County has reported nine cases of the virus as of Saturday morning, including one in Ocean City. MORE.

People with the coronavirus also might not show symptoms, according to the Center for Disease Control. With limited testing available nationwide, it is also difficult to gauge the true number of people with the virus.

Restrictions and Updates

Ocean City closed its beaches and boardwalk Wednesday until further notice.

"We have a large senior population, and it's of utmost importance to take their well-being into consideration," said Mayor Jay Gillian. MORE.

Effects

The "COVID-19 recession will likely hit Ocean City harder than almost anywhere in the nation, according to a Brookings Institution analysis. But there are efforts to help, including the relaunch of OCNJ CARE. MORE.

Hospitals

A Shore Medical Center patient tested positive for the coronavirus. The hospital expected a second patient to also test positive. Both remain in respiratory isolation and are in stable condition. MORE.
