Shore Medical Center Patient Tests Positive For Coronavirus
One patient was confirmed positive, while Shore Medical Center expects the same from another in the hospital.
SOMERS POINT, NJ — A patient at Shore Medical Center was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus, a hospital spokesperson announced Sunday. This is the first time the hospital has announced a patient testing positive.
Shore Medical Center expects confirmation of a second patient testing positive. Both remain in respiratory isolation and are in stable condition. The hospital didn't provide any further information about the patients.
Three people have tested positive for the virus in Cape May County, while Atlantic County has recorded five positive tests. Neither county has revealed information about towns with a person who has tested positive.

Shore Medical Center asks that people socially distance and first seek electronic contact with their primary care physician before visiting any medical facility. Call 911 for symptoms that need urgent attention.
The hospital banned almost all visitors to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
Exceptions include:
- patients in hospice or end-of-life care
- one visitor or support person for maternity patients, pediatric patients and people undergoing same-day surgery or an ambulatory procedure
