Man Accused Of Ocean City Bank Robbery Tells Police He Robbed Banks, Market In Maryland

OCEAN CITY, NJ — A Virginia man charged in bank robberies in Ocean City and Atlantic City has admitted to committing three robberies in Maryland, nj.com reports.
Bruce Higgins Jr., 42, of Herndon, Virginia, also admitted to the two New Jersey bank robberies, in addition to two bank robberies and the robbery of a market over a three-day period in December in the Baltimore area, according to the report.
He made his confessions during police interrogations following his arrest in December, and has not yet been scheduled for an initial appearance in federal court, according to the report.

Higgins Jr. was arrested on Dec. 16 after police say he robbed the the Wells Fargo Bank on South Atlantic Avenue in Atlantic City.
He is charged with first-degree robbery in that case, as well as first-degree robbery in the robbery of the TD Bank in Ocean City the day before he was arrested.
Higgins Jr. is accused of walking into the TD Bank at about 1:06 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, Dec. 15, 2016, and demanding money from the teller. He then made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. It was unclear if the man was armed, but no one was hurt during the robbery.

The FBI along with Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and Ocean City Police Department were investigating the robbery, and released surveillance photos of Higgins Jr. to the media and the public.
They subsequently learned Higgins Jr.'s identity from Atlantic City Police who were involved in previous interactions with him.
The investigation led detectives to Atlantic City. Higgins Jr. was arrested after police say he robbed the Wells Fargo Bank in a fashion similar to the Ocean City robbery.
He was previously convicted of similar robberies in Virginia and Washington, D.C., according to the Washington Post. He was sentenced to four years, three months in federal prison. According to that report, he began robbing banks after he became addicted to cocaine and heroin in 2009.
