She says winning the pageant gave her few opportunities women were afforded in the 1960s. She traveled the state, spoke at events and gained a wealth of confidence throughout the course of her year as Miss New Jersey.

She said these experiences helped her develop the positive attributes that helped her throughout her life.

She is now married with four children and living in Haddonfield. She is a realtor and a home stager.

The pageant will also celebrate the following anniversaries:

* 10 year Erica Scanlon Harr- Miss New Jersey 2004;

* 20 Years Jennifer Makris Hill- Miss New Jersey 1994;

* 30 year Patricia La Terra Catroneo, Miss New Jersey 1984; and

* 40 year Elizabeth Bracken Thompson, Miss New Jersey 1974

The Alumni Association is made up of former Miss New Jersey Pageant winners. It is dedicated to working together to help support the pageant, provide scholarship incentives and maintain the history of the organization.

The association was formed a few months ago and has located 38 former winners. It is seeking all former Miss New Jersey winners to join the association.
