Networking Event In Ocean City For 3K-Plus Jobs At Wind Farm

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Cape May County Chamber of Commerce will hold an Ocean Wind Jobs Forum on Tuesday at the Flanders Hotel. The event will focus on jobs and supply-chain opportunities related to Ørsted’s offshore wind project.
Questions loom about how the project may affect Ocean City, but the wind farm will be located 15 miles off the coast of Atlantic City. Ørsted expects the project to create more than 3,000 jobs through the development an construction cycle, along with 69 full-time jobs to operate and maintain the wind farm after construction.
Tier One Suppliers, which provides parts and services to Ørsted, may also expand job opportunities for the project.

The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Here's the schedule:
- 9:30 a.m.: Keynote: Joseph L. Fiordaliso, resident, New Jersey Board of Public Utilities
- 10 a.m.: Panel: Impacts of Wind Development for Cape May County
- 11 a.m.: Panel: How to Get Involved with the Ocean Wind Project
After lunch, attendees can participate in "match-making" meetings to network with Ørsted and Tier One Suppliers.

Ørsted expects to begin construction in the early 2020s and make it operational in 2024. It will power more than 500,000 homes throughout each region of New Jersey.
