New Location For Ocean City's Martin Luther King Jr. Ceremony
Two residents, Jane French and Bill McMahon III, will be honored with Martin Luther King Community Service Awards.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — Ocean City will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 15 at a new location.
Originally scheduled at Ocean City Music Pier, the ceremony has been moved to the Ocean City Tabernacle for the convenience of attendees and because of an ongoing maintenance project at the Music Pier.
The ceremony begins at 12 p.m., bringing the community together to remember King through words, song and dance.

One highlight is the recitation of King’s “I Have a Dream” speech by the Rev. Gregory Johnson. The event will be followed by a complimentary soul food buffet luncheon at the Tabernacle.
Two citizens, Jane French and Bill McMahon III, will be honored with Martin Luther King Community Service Awards. Each year, the awards recognize volunteer activity and service to the Ocean City community. Both of these award recipients have been selfless and tireless in support of local residents, according to the city. The Jan. 15 presentation will include much more on each of these citizens.

Additionally, students from grades 7 and 8 at the Ocean City Intermediate School will be honored for their winning essays on the influence of King.
Volunteers are invited to join others nationwide in a Day of Service on Jan. 15 to honor Dr. King’s contributions. Citizens are asked to participate in a citywide cleanup from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Sign-up and supply distribution will take place at the Howard S.
