New Ocean City Restaurant Takes Customers Back to Coal Mines and Railroads
Frankie's on the Bay of OCNJ opened Jan. 8.

The “Coal Country” concept that has become the staple of Frankie’s Pizzeria and Restaurant in Hazleton, PA, for 20 years, has arrived in Ocean City.
Frankie’s on the Bay of OCNJ opened at 1050 Bay Avenue on Jan. 8, and Ocean City residents have taken to it right away.
“We are very blessed with the turnout of people who came to support us,” said Lauren Sacco, one of four owners of the restaurant. “We have met nothing but awesome people looking to eat and shop local. We love it here and can’t wait to start our family roots here too!”

Lauren and her husband, Scott, along with her parents, Frank and Debbie Vito, have what Lauren described as a “different menu geared around our own concept.”
Frankie’s on the Bay transports patrons back in time to the days when coal mines and railroads were king with its “blast from the past” decorations, as well as the names o the food.

Hungry patrons can order up a Coal Car (French Toast or buttermilk pancakes), a Coal Bucket Bliss (3 French Toast or 3 pancakes stuffed and layered with bacon and topped with a fried egg) or any number of Coal Diggin Combos.
And of course, there’s The Frankie, which includes egg and cheese with a choice of sausage, ham, steak or bacon on Texas Toast with hash brown sticks.
They have their own coffee line, known as Heroes Brew, which the owners bill as “helping you relax while showing your support for the American Hero.”
“It goes hand in hand with our breakfast,” Lauren Sacco said.
Frankie’s on the Bay serves breakfast until 2 p.m. It is also open for lunch and dinner, which includes signature soups of the day, pretzel cheese steaks and the Thanksgiving Trio.
The owners didn’t pick Ocean City arbitrarily.
They have vacationed in Ocean City for the last 20 years. They have been looking for a spot to open for three years.
Frankie’s on the Bay is open five days a week:
· Monday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.;
· Thursday-Friday, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.; and
· Saturday-Sunday, 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m.
