NJ Man Stabbed, Chased And Stabbed Again In Cape May County, Police Say

The attack that started at the Beach House Motel in Rio Grande left the victim hospitalized, authorities said.

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Cape May man has been arrested after he chased a man across a parking lot and across Route 9 and stabbed him several times, Middle Township police said.

Daniel C. Thomas, 35, has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon and certain persons not to possess a weapon in the attack that happened Monday, police said.

The victim, a 40-year-old man from South River, is hospitalized at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City, police said.

The man was standing in front of the Beach House Motel in Rio Grande when Thomas pulled up in a vehicle, got out and and approached the victim and stabbed him multiple times, police said.

The victim tried to run but Thomas chased him across Route 9 into a nearby parking lot and kept stabbing him, police said.

Thomas then took off in his vehicle, police said.

Thomas and the victim knew each other and the attack was not random, police said, but they did not give details on how they are acquainted.

Middle Township police and the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office tracked Thomas down and arrested him, police said. They did not say where he was arrested.

Thomas is being held at the Cape May County jail pending court proceedings.
