Ocean City Council Taking Pause on Coastal Cottages Pause, Again

The final decision on the proposed ordinance was once again delayed because not all residents have been sent notices.

Ocean City, NJ -- It’s going to take Ocean City Council a little more time to decide if it wants to take a pause on the Coastal Cottages concept.

The public hearing and final decision on the proposed ordinance that was tabled at the March 24 meeting because notification of residents affected by the issue was incomplete was tabled once again during the April 14 meeting at City Hall.

Once again, the delay is because not all the residents have been notified. Business Administrator Jim Mallon said the city would investigate the issue, and finish sending out notices. Those who were already noticed will not be re-noticed, City Solicitor Dorothy McCrosson said.

Also on Thursday night, City Council approved an ordinance on introduction that allows free access to the beaches for veterans and active military personnel so that they no longer need to obtain a badge from the city. Instead, they will be able to present a valid military ID card, DD-214 form or similar document or a driver’s license of ID card indicating they are a veteran or active military.
