Ocean City Councilman Joins County Commissioners
The Ward 4 Council seat has opened up as Ocean City's Bob Barr has been appointed to the County Board of Commissioners.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ward 4 Council seat has been left vacant as Ocean City's Bob Barr has been appointed to the Cape May County Board of Commissioners.
Barr was appointed to fill the vacancy left by E. Marie Hayes, who recently resigned to become the Cape May County Surrogate.
His unexpired term in the Ocean City Council runs through June 30, 2024.

Those interested in running for the unexpired seat for the Nov. 7 general election should submit their petitions to the City Clerk's office by 4 p.m. on Aug. 24.
Barr has served on the Ocean City Council since 2016.

It's not clear if the Council will appoint someone to fill Barr's seat or leave it vacant until the election.
