Ocean City Girls Basketball Team Is 14-0 Behind Strong Defense

Ocean City is sixth in the state in points allowed, according to nj.com.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City High School girls basketball team was 14-0 as of Wednesday afternoon, according to nj.com.

The Red Raiders were among six teams in the state that were still undefeated ahead of Wednesday night’s game against Cedar Creek.

Ocean City is sixth in the state in points allowed, giving up just 25.86 points per game. The Red Raiders have allowed a total of 362 points, with a point differential of 348 points. Saddle Brook has the top defense in the state, allowing just 23.75 points per game.

The Red Raiders hit their defensive high mark on Jan. 13, when they held Lower Cape May to just eight points.

In their last four games, Ocean City held opponents to less than 30 points. They defeated Williamstown, 60-23; Mainland, 29-27; Oakcrest, 57-25; and Camden Catholic, 46-24.

The most points Ocean City gave up this season was at the KSA Events Holiday Tournament when they gave up 45 points in a win over Mother McAuley, IL. Absegami had the most points among New Jersey teams who have played Ocean City, putting down 35 in a loss on Jan. 4.

Including Wednesday night’s game, Ocean City has three games left before the playoff cutoff date on Saturday. The playoffs begin at the end of the month
