Ocean City High School Girls Basketball Team Unbeaten Through 10 Games

The Red Raiders have seven games remaining before the playoff cutoff date.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — The Ocean City High School girls basketball team extended its unbeaten season by two more games in the past week, and is now 10-0, according to box scores posted on nj.com.

The Red Raiders had their best defensive showing of the season in their 63-8 win over Lower Cape May on Friday, Jan. 13. Grace Sacco led the offense with 14 points, followed by Danielle Donoghue with 12.

While eight points isn’t a lot, it’s not much less than what some other teams have scored against the Red Raiders this year.

On Dec. 29, Miami Northwestern out of Florida only managed 17 points in a loss to the Red Raiders during the KSA Events Holiday Tournament. Middle Township and Oakcrest only managed 18 points against Ocean City in early season losses.

On Tuesday of this week, it was a little closer for Ocean City, which pulled out a 35-31 win over Holy Spirit. Donoghue and Alexis Paone each had 10 points in that win. Ocean City outscored Holy Spirit in the second half after the teams entered halftime tied at 17-17. Holy Spirit was up 10-5 after the first quarter.

Ocean City hosts Williamstown at 4 p.m. Saturday, and has seven games left before the cutoff date to qualify for the playoffs, which is Feb. 4. The playoffs begin at the end of next month.
