Gillian founded the park on a large uninhabited part of the boardwalk that sat empty for a decade after a fire destroyed the previous entertainment complex there, Stainton's Playland.
Wonderland Pier opened with only ten rides, and now has over thirty, from a carousel, to a log flume, to a haunted house ride.
