The death toll in the Bahamas has climbed to 50 and thousands remain missing, according to reports.

OCEAN CITY, NJ — As the Bahamas and southeastern United States recover from Hurricane Dorian's impact, Ocean City Mayor Jay Gillian urges people to show their support.
"There are many lost lives and lost homes," Gillian said in his weekly address. "As we know from Sandy, the storm is just the start. The cleanup and rebuilding will be a long and trying process. We received generous help from across the nation in the wake of Sandy, and I urge you all to return the favor by lending whatever support you can."
Carol Lyn and Chris Terrels, an Ocean City couple, has a son who lives in the Bahamas. They have organized a fundraiser to get supplies to the people of Elbow Key, where their son lives. Their GoFundMe has raised about $16,000 of its $25,000 goal as of Tuesday morning.
