Recycling Center Closed; Ocean City Rabies Clinic Postponed in Anticipation of Weekend Storm

Ocean City, NJ -- The Shelter Road Recycling Center will be closed on Saturday due to the weather, city officials said. It will reopen at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25.

The free rabies clinic previously scheduled for this weekend has been postponed due to the storm expected to hit New Jersey this weekend, Ocean City officials said on Wednesday.

The clinic will now take place on Feb. 6, 10 a.m.-noon at the Fifth Street Firehouse on Fifth and Wesley.

Under city and state law, anyone owning, keeping or harboring a dog of licensing age (7 Months or older) or which possess a set of permanent teeth must annually procure a license and official metal tag for each dog owned from the Municipal Clerk’s Office, 861 Asbury Avenue, Ocean City, NJ.

To get a license, the owner’s pets must get rabies vaccinations. The owner must supply a certificate, signed by a licensed veterinarian, that shows the vaccination is good for at least the first 10 months of the 12 month licensing period.

The fees for licensing a dog are $5.20 for a dog that has been neutered or spayed. $8.20 for dogs that have not been neutered or spayed.

A late fee will occur after March 31 for a fee of an additional $4.

In sports, the game between the Ocean City High School girls basketball team and Middle Township that was scheduled for Monday was rescheduled for Feb. 2, 7 p.m., according to The Press of Atlantic City.

The South Jersey Interscholastic Swimming Association high school coaches invitational meets scheduled for Gloucester Tech on Saturday have been postponed to next Saturday, Jan. 30, according to nj.com.

Division A will still swim at 10 a.m., followed by Division B at 4 p.m.
